Scarlett Alvarez , Vice President and Chief Stakeholder and Sustainability Officer
Scarlett has more than 14 years of experience in the electricity sector and is currently Vice President and Chief Stakeholder and Sustainability Officer for AES. She joined AES in 2002 and has served in diverse roles at the local, regional and corporate levels in the areas of Stakeholder Management, External and Investor Relations, Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Affairs. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of several AES companies in Brazil, Dominican Republic and Panama and the Trust for the Americas, an affiliate institution of the Organization of American States. In 2014, Scarlett was recognized by the Latin Business Chronicle as one of the Top 50 Businesswomen working in or with Latin America.
Prior to joining AES, Scarlett worked for a telecommunication company of Venezuela, a subsidiary of Verizon, and in the public sector, she worked for the Venezuelan Government in the New York Office of the Ministry of Finance and the Permanent Mission to the UN, and also for the World Bank as Program Coordinator for the social development loans program to Venezuela.
Throughout her career, Scarlett has worked directly with a wide range of local, regional and corporate stakeholders through government relations work, international bond issuances and company listings on foreign stock markets such as NYSE and Latibex. She has also developed social sustainable programs that not only contribute to business objectives but also improve the quality of life of local communities and customers.
She holds a BA in Business Administration in Management from Universidad Metropolitana, and a MD Prog- Finance, Capital Market from New York University. She also completed studies in Marketing at Bentley University in Boston, the Advanced Management Program from IESA and received a certificate of Management from University of Virginia´s Darden Business School.
