Together, we are accelerating the future of energy in California.
California has one of the most ambitious clean energy goals in the country and is implementing some of the most innovative technologies on their path to achieving 100% carbon-free power by 2045.
Since 1989, AES has been powering California and supporting the state’s grid reliability needs. We are committed to a safe and responsible transition to clean energy in California. Together with our customers and partners, we co-create innovative and sustainable energy solutions, create local jobs and invest in communities.

Building partnerships to strengthen communities
We believe in being a good neighbor, ensuring responsible clean energy development that benefits both the environment and local communities. At AES, we understand that our success as a company is only as strong as our partnerships with the communities where we operate. That’s why we partner with communities, customers, state agencies, higher education and elected officials to see how we can best work together to support sustainable social and economic development that complement the local geography and unique culture.
All together with the Los Cerritos Wetlands Authority, Tree People and Bolsa Chica Conservancy
AES’s Coastal Enhancement Program is a two-year voluntary environmental benefits program that creates greater access to and restoration of coastal wetlands in Long Beach and Huntington Beach and provides environmental education and stewardship opportunities for youth and families in Southern California.
The program offers:
- $1 million allocated to Los Cerritos Wetlands Authority for the planning, engineering, restoration and rehabilitation of nearby wetlands, in support of improving access to wetlands for today and future generations.
- $500,000 allocated to TreePeople and Bolsa Chica Conservancy to expand environmental education programs and outreach, with a specific focus on youth and families in disadvantaged communities.
