As of the 2010 census, there were more than one million people suffering some kind of physical disability in the Dominican Republic. On May 22, 2018, a partnership between the AES Dominicana Foundation and the Dominican Rehabilitation Association was launched to support people with physical disabilities and offer physical, occupational, language therapy, pedagogy, and other services.

A national tender called for NGOs that could manage the center responsibly and with a proven track record in the Dominican Republic. In the case of the center, 15 new positions have been created for the residents of Los Mina over the first year of operations, and part of the quota has been reserved for handicapped individuals. This is AES Dominicana Foundation’s first social project, creating an alliance that generates jobs for nearby community members and free assistance for our people.

11,168 services have been performed since inauguration
